The Christie PTA sponosrs a variety of activities throughout the year. Below is a partial list of things provided by your PTA.

The PTA hosts two books fairs each year - one in the fall and one in late spring.

Our fall book fair is scheduled for Monday, October 19 - Friday, October 23, 2009

The theme is Destination Book Fair: Read Around the World.

Special Events for the week include:

• Monday - Hawaiian Day (dress in hawaiian-themed clothes)
• Monday - Matinee with Moms - 3:00-4:00pm
• Tuesday - Mexico Day (dress in Mexican-themed clothing, sombreros)
• Wednesday - Canada Day (dress in red or red & white)
• Wednesday - Donuts with Dad - 7:00-7:30am
• Thursday - Take a Break from Traveling - Pajama Day (wear your PJs - don't forget sneakers for PE)
• Thursday - Family Night - 5:00-7:00pm
• Friday - Back to Texas! (dress in Texas/Cowboy clothing and cowboy hats)
  

The PTA plans and executes the annual Christie Carnival. We provide the games, food, and activities as well as coordinate the volunteers. This is one of the biggest events put on by the PTA and one of the most anticiapted by the students. The event is open to the community.

This event gets bigger and bigger each year! A G-rated movie is shown and food, drinks, dessert, and popcorn is provided by the PTA for only fifty centes per person! Dads and students (and moms and siblings) are invited to this family event. Bring a blanket and grab a space on the floor, some seating provided. But get here early - the floor space goes quick! This year's movie: "Bee Movie"

The Christie Family Picnic occurs every May, near the end of the school year. The entire family is invited to bring your own picnic or you can purchase tickets in advance for food at the event (advance purchase is required). While the PTA helps organize and staff the event, all proceeds of the Family Picnic benefit the school's general fund which in the past had paid for things such as the upgrade to the sound system in the cafeteria.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week in May each year. The PTA tries to "out-do" itself each year to show our love and appreciation for all the time, dedication and love that our teachers and staff give to our kids each day. The PTA plans meals, snacks, goodie bags and give-a-ways during the week. Parents are asked to help in donating lunch dishes throughout the week.

The PTA celebrates teacher and staff birthdays once per month by provided lunch for the entire staff. Donations are brought in by parents and some of our great volunteers setup and clean up.

The PTA uses much of our budget to provide great programs for the students.

Lorin Nicholson’s See Sharp Thurs. Oct. 29th two assemblies 8am and 9:15 am
Lorin Nicholson's outstanding talent with the guitar enables him to capture audiences of any age. Lorin presents a profound message about acceptance of difference and belief in self, and relates his own experiences to wonderful effect.

“Take a Veteran to School Day”. Veterans Day Wednesday November 11
Students are encouraged to invite a member of the armed services to come to school. (Phil J will be inviting his grandfather who was in the Navy in WWII.) This day gives Christie students an opportunity to meet Veterans who have served our country, participate in an assembly where fellow students give a patriotic performance and come to conclusions about how strong our country is and has been because of our veterans from the past.
